It has been a busy season of life. I feel like it has finally started to slow down and I have had energy to spend on my little family. It was a super fun and emotional summer and fall! Here's a timeline of what's been going on:
Early August: Grandma Barthel Passed Away. She was 87 years old and a beautiful woman. It was hard to see her go, but knowing that she was going to meet Jesus was such an amazing thing.
August 10th: Trip to the Zoo with the Bargmann's. Over the last few years, the Bargmann's, who are our neighbors across the street, have become very close friends. Our kids love to play together and many times act more like siblings than friends and we enjoy time with them. We had planned a camping trip with them for the weekend but with the weather and mosquitos...we decided a day at the zoo was a lot less complicated!
August 11th: We celebrated our dear friends, Becky and Joe Harpel's, little man's first birthday party! Isaac turned one on August 6th and we celebrated with a water party at Becky's parents house. That girl knows how to throw a party! We were blessed to be part of the festivities.
August 13th: It was my 31st Birthday. Gordon surprised me with Breakfast in bed and an evening of shopping with a good friend of mine. We were on the hunt for workout gear and new tennis shoes...super fun evening! I came home successful.
August 17th: Gordon joined my brother to celebrate his upcoming wedding with a day of pigeon shooting and fishing!
August 24th: Megan Celebrated her soon to be sister in law, Amanda, with a spa day and a trip to the Melting Pot. It was a great girls night out with Amanda, my mom, her mom and her friend Jessica! We couldn't have asked for a better way to spend an evening together!
September 5th: Micah Started Kindergarten! BIG DAY!!!
September 13th and 14th: My Brother Clint and his Fiancé Amanda's Wedding Weekend! ANOTHER BIG DAY! It was so much to celebrate with them. Gordon, Micah, Sophia and I were all in the wedding! It was a great wedding - it was rainy but still breathtaking.
September 20th - 23rd: Gordon and I took a belated Anniversary celebration this year. We took a trip to Indianapolis and Chicago. Gordon had an IT meet up for a group that he has been connected with for the last couple of years and has become friends with through the great world of social media. We decide to head to the meet up and them stop in Chicago on the way home to tour the city. It was a great and much needed retreat for us! We love spending time as a family but enjoy those few precious moments of being just US too!
So its been a busy and exciting few months. We look forward to getting into Fall and enjoying what October has to bring! Blessings!!

Mid- April Snows.
I am trying to find the positive in the April Snow that surrounds our town home. Although we enjoy the winter months at this house with sledding and snowmobiling as favorite activities. We also long for the sweet smell of spring. The puddles to jump in and the flowers that start to bloom. The green grass and leaves that start to grow on the trees. Mostly, for me, I enjoy getting out for some early morning walks or running as my workout!
Micah has only one month left of preschool. I am excited to have the summer with him and I know he is ready to spend lots of time outside with his brother and sister! He favorite indoor toy right now is Bey Blades. He learned about them at a few friends house. He doesn't have any yet, but has been diligently earning money through chores and helping mom and dad so that he can buy some of his own! Once he earns his $40 he will tithe his 10% and then buy the Bey Blades that he has been waiting for. He hopes to also get a bigger bike this summer so that he can keep up with Daddy. Micah will also be busy this summer with Tball, Basketball, Soccer Camp and Vacation Bible School.
Sophia is growing so much too! She wants to go to preschool but I think we will keep her home one more year. She is talking more. She tries to talk over her brother so she can be heard too! My mom tells me that she does so many things just like I did at her age. It's fun and challenging to have a three year old girl at home. She loves My Little Ponies and Paper Dolls. She is happy to play on her own as long as you are sitting right next to her. She asks us to put on music everyday so she can dance and sing to it. We are going to let her try gymnastics this summer!
Mason is almost walking. He can balance and walks along furniture but doesn't have the confidence to take steps just yet. I am sure they will be right around the corner. He has been walking along furniture for about a month. He still has four teeth on top, they just seem to be hanging out up there, and have still not come all the way through, and then two teeth on the bottom. Mason loves music like his brother and sister. If you turn the music on he will start wiggling almost immediately. His eyes light up and he gets super silly. Although Mason is used to having Micah and Sophia around, he thrives on his mommy and daddy alone time. He is super sweet and just loves to play quietly when he can see us in sight.
Gordon is enjoying work. But unlike the rest of us, would love it to continue snowing year round so that he could take his snowmobile out year around. His brother Derek went with him out snowmobiling after the big snow on Thursday...although they found themselves trudging through lots of watery grass on the way to the trail:) They came back pretty wet, but still had big smiles on their faces.

Is it Spring Yet!
Being at home for the past 5 months has been nothing short of amazing. God has blessed us in ways we could never imagine. Being able to spend so much time with the kids does not come without its challenges but has been so fun!
Below are pictures of our kiddos with Gordon going from Snowmobile rides...this has been one fun thing about having a good amount of snow this winter! This kids love to go for rides - and Gordon loves taking them on rides!
We have been stuck inside a lot this winter. Its been cold and wet - and with Mason's current age, and inability to walk yet (Crawling outside in the snow would be quite messy) makes it hard to get out. We are looking forward to lots of walks, and time at the park this spring!

2013 is here..
2013 is finally upon us. I can't believe it, but am excited about what is in store for us this year. Being home with the kids has been such a fun blessing. I have enjoyed spending so much more time with them, but have also been trying hard to really balance the cleaning, cooking, organizing, being a wife and being the mom that my kiddos need me to be. I am hoping that since we are going on the third month of me being fully at home, we can start to get into a routine that suits everyone!
Mason is crawling. So fun! He mostly does the army crawl, but once in a while he gets up on his hands and knees. He is very mischievous. When we are upstairs, he will wait until I am not looking and crawl, or army crawl as fast as he can to the stairs...when I say his name, "Mason", he stops for a quick second and then continues on his way to see if he can get there before I catch him! He hasn't fallen down the stairs yet - but its bound to happen at this rate, so I am trying my best to NOT take my eyes off him!
Sophia is almost three. Just a week and a half and I won't have a two year old anymore. She is becoming more clear in her speaking everyday. Her sweet little voice just melts my heart. Although as she is getting closer to three she is also growing into a little more attitude. We are hoping to curb that quickly, but are enjoying her to pieces. She loves playing with paper dolls and coloring!
Micah is getting ready for Kindergarten. Finishing is last year of preschool and getting ready to start a new journey in the fall. I remember the day he was born. The excitement of becoming parents, and now he is about to start becoming just a little independent. He is smart and energetic but I am nervous and sad about the change in our journey - but I know he will be amazing!
